Demonstrated Skill:
Because formal educational programs for sewing and design are limited in the U.S., being juried is one way to demonstrate the proficiency and level of expertise of our members. The jurying process gives a professional credential and it is an important role in our education as sewing professionals. In addition, juried members are part of the Chapter’s referral system.
Standards of Quality:
The ASDP Standards of Quality for Custom Clothing (available on National web page) are the basis for the jurying process. Throughout the jurying process, qualified evaluators look at the appropriateness of fabrics chosen, techniques used, and engineering skills demonstrated for a particular garment.
Professional Development:
The Evaluation Committee holds the professional development of each member as paramount. This committee consists of at least three qualified evaluators from the Colorado ASDP Chapter, who themselves have gone through the evaluation process.
